An old-time, open-pollinated, heirloom spinach dating back to the 19th century. Dark green, glossy, crinkly leaves stand up well to summer heat and are exceptionally tender and tasty. Buttery sweet and never bitter. Can also over-winter for spring eating. Heavy yielding, time-tested variety.

Grows best in cool weather and should be planted in early spring or late summer to produce a fall crop. Plant seeds 1” apart and 1⁄2” deep. Seeds will germinate in 7-14 days. Thin to 6-8” apart. For best yields, harvest continually and make successive plantings every ten days.
